How To Style Dad Sneakers
Dad sneakers, chunky sneakers, ugly sneakers - aka trend that everyone hates to love- immerged from the runways a few years ago, and has made a permanent appearance season after season in every store from Target to Bergdorf. I will admit it took me a WHILE to find a pair of chunky sneakers that I didn't feel ridiculous in. But every time I'd see someone rocking them on Instagram the outfit always looked SO cute that I was determined to find the right chunky sneaker that fit my style.
After finding a first pair that I loved - I was hooked! Now I own a few pairs and pretty much gravitate towards one of them more than any other shoe I own!
They literally pair well with just about any casual outfit - sneakers and a tee, dresses, midi skirts (my fave way to rock them), and if you are really adventurous they look awesome with workwear too. Something about them elevate and add a curated vibe to any look.
I honestly was pleasantly surprised at how easy they are to wear and wanted to spread the word - you too can pull them off (promise!) + I'm convinced you'll become obsessed too.

+ Style Tips
I created a few fail-proof style boards designed to give you a push to try the trend for yourself. I designed the boards to give you some inspo on how to pair them with similar items you might already have in your closet. I also want to share a few tips that I've found helpful when it comes to styling these bad boys:
Show some ankle - Because these sneakers are so chunky, pairing them with pants that don't show some skin at the ankles can make your outfit look heavy and unflattering (especially if you are on the shorter side like me). Sticking to ankle-length bottoms is actually a tip I always follow whenever I want to wear sneakers that always makes a MAJOR difference. Trust me that having that pop of skin to break-up your denim/pants from your shoe is key* if you want your outfit to look and feel balanced.
Style them as you would your fave pair of sneakers - Once I stopped thinking that in order to rock these I had to wear them with white Nike tube socks or oversized trousers like all the instagram fashion girls, I realized how simple they were to pair with outfits I wear regularly. So next time you are about throw on your go-t0 sneakers, swap them out for a chunky pair and wa-la, it's that easy!
They look great with dresses & skirts - Something about the chunky sneaker with more feminine silhouettes looks so effortlessly edgy and cool - it's my favorite way to wear them!
